Will you go to bed with me? Soft music, dimmed lighting, satin pajamas and canopied tables create a relaxingand romantic atmosphere at Bed Restaurant and Lounge. What didyou think I meant?

Bed's unique menu offers a variety of dishes for everyone's palate.Headed by Chef Michael Facey and his crew, Bed serves up someof the most delightful and unusual dishes on the Island.

Begin your evening with the best Calamari available. Next, trythe French Brie Wheel which is made up of a brie wheel encrustedin parmesan breading and baked until the cheese becomes creamyin consistency. It is served with a marinated roasted garlic bulb, grapes and a cranberry coulis.

Consider the Tuna Tataki, consisting of marinated, pan-seared,Japanese Blue Fin Tuna, sliced and served over sauteed bok choywith Wasabi, pickled ginger and soy sauce. Eleven splendid appetizersawait you and your party at Bed, from the Zoe Potstickers to theNew Orleans Crawfish. Choose wisely, and remember to share.

Next: the salad. Your everyday garden salad would definitely notdo. Take your taste buds for a ride with the Grilled DuckbreastSalad, with its crispy greens topped with the house Vinaigrette.Delve into the Goat Cheese Tomato Crustini with herbed goat cheese, melted over crustini bread topped with fresh tomatoes, and servedover a bouquet of baby greens, drizzled with a balsamic vinaigrette.

The entrees are where food really gets exciting. The MoroccanChicken is aromatic and the flavour tantilizing. Chef Facey hastaken diced chicken - with a wonderful mixture of vegetables, dates and almonds - and served it with cous-cous. How about tryingthe Farfalle Pertsovka? This delicious pasta dish consists ofbow tie pasta in a light cream sauce with smoked salmon, capers, peppers and Spanish onions.

Consider the Garden Vegetable Chicken (I must admit this is oneof my favourites): a boneless breast, stuffed with a melody ofvegetables and mozzarella cheese, topped with a basil-dijon creamsauce and served with the world's best garlic parmesan mashedpotatoes and fresh vegetables.

If you are into spicy dishes, here is a hot one for you - FirecrackerPrawns. The prawns are sauteed in a ginger-lime sauce with a redpepper and cucumber salad (to cool off your tongue) and servedwith basmati rice. Hot! Hot! hot!

Maybe you would prefer steak instead. Try the Black Angus Filet. This lean, 8oz, prime cut filet is so tender, it melts in yourmouth. Chef Facey has outdone himself by topping the filet withgrilled Portabella mushrooms, blue cheese cream sauce and a cabernet-thymedemiglace, served with vegetables, and wonderful parmesan mashedpotatoes. I'm stuffed!

Do not be shy when ordering your entree; there are 15 items tochoose from and there is definitely one for you.

The only problem I can foresee you having at Bed is which wineto have with dinner. Bed is one of the few restaurants that hasits own wine room, with the temperature held between 55 and 65degrees, to keep the wines at their best. In the wine room are81 red wines to choose from, ranging from the Italina BertaniAmarone '67, to the South African Neederburg Pinotage '97, andon to the Australian Coldstream Hill Pinot Noir '98. Need I saymore? Their range is extensive. They also have 24 white winesin addition to Sake and desert wines, which include the KonzelmanIce Wine and the Zonnebloem Late Harvest Reisling Wine.

Bed is very well known for its Infusion Martinis, all of whichare made of different selections of fruit infused with vodka fora certain period of time. Try the Breakfast in Bed, Valentinoor the Pink Satin Sheets. Be careful. They are all deadly!

I bet you thought that life just couldn't get better than this.Wait until you try the Napoleon, with its layers of light, flakypuff pastry, encrusted with walnuts, and fresh fruit snuggledamidst layers of chocolate and vanilla cream, drizzled with carameland chocolate sauce. Heaven!

It gets even better. How about trying the Mudslide Creme Brulee, which is dressed with freshly-sliced strawberries and mangoes, and one fresh, ripe raspberry. The best part is, that it is caramelizedright at your table. A wonderful touch and definitely the bestCreme Brulee I've ever had to date.

Bed is located in the Islander Complex, off Lawrence Boulevardand is open for dinner from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Reservations arerecommended, so call ahead at 949-7199. Their appetizer menu isavailable one half-hour before closing, Monday through Fridayuntil 12:30 and Saturday until 11:30.
